Mission
Miami Park Library Media Center's mission is to collaborate with educators at all levels in assisting students to become active and creative locators, evaluators, and users of information. With these skills, as well as knowledge of the information search process, students will become skillful consumers and producers of information. This foundation will enable students to become lifelong learners in a dynamic and ever-changing world.

Specifically, the Library Media Specialist will endeavor to:

  • improve student achievement by guiding school library media specialists in integrating information literacy skills throughout the curriculum;

  • improve student reading skills by providing library media specialists with print, non print, and electronic resources;

  • offer guidance in developing reading motivation programs and materials;

  • promote the use of technology to locate and use information

KartOO is a metasearch engine with visual display interfaces. When you click on OK, KartOO launches the query to a set of search engines, gathers the results, compiles them and represents them in a series of interactive maps through a proprietary algorithm
 

Ask Jeeves for Kids is a fast, easy and kid-friendly way for kids to find answers to their questions online. Designed to be a fun destination site focused on learning and "edutainment," Ask Jeeves for Kids uses natural-language technology that allows kids to ask questions, such as "Why is the sky blue?" or "What's it like to live in space?" in the same way they would ask a parent, friend or teacher. The service combines human editorial judgment with filtering technology to enable kids to find both relevant and appropriate answers on the Web.

Yahooligans! is a browsable, searchable directory of Internet sites for kids. Each site has been carefully checked by an experienced educator to ensure the content and links are appropriate for kids aged 7-12. In addition to our directory, we also have a number of fun features, including Yahooligans! Games, Sports and News pages, Movies, Animals, Science and Dinosaurs, a Reference section, Parents' and Teachers' Guides, a Cool page, and lots more.

Welcome to CyberSleuth-Kids, an online search engine and guide for the K-12 student. CyberSleuth-Kids is the creation of the hard work of a teacher and the volunteers that make this site possible. The goal of CyberSleuth-Kids is to provide a safe educational online database of links to help the student sift through the maze of information.

KidsClick! was created by a group of librarians at the Ramapo Catskill Library System, as a logical step in addressing concerns about the role of public libraries in guiding their young users to valuable and age appropriate web sites.

KidsKonnect is a Web site for children, young adults, teachers, and parents. Our target audience is children and graphics play a very important role in the design of each page. The animations and graphics on the following pages were taken from public domain and are, to the best of our knowledge, free from copyright, or they have been obtained with the permission of the owner.

Timeforkids.com, the online version of Time for Kids magazine, is the news, homework helper and exploration destination for kids on the Internet. The site keeps you on top of the news and lets you create, learn, get involved, explore, play games and access tools to help you with your homework.
 

Children and their parents have for years enjoyed attending storytimes, checking out books and participating in a number of other educational, entertaining and participatory programs at the various locations of The Public Library of Charlotte Mecklenburg County. StoryPlace, an interactive web site, came about to provide children with the virtual experience of going to the library and participating in the same types of activities the library offers.
